This is a REAL White HornBill Bird Skull thats permanently nesting on a large pedestal of Green Tourmaline in a Matrix of Quartz thats formed like Gypsum-Selenite and glistens like Mica.
The white-thighed hornbill is a large and highly vocal bird, with a long, slightly decurved beak, topped with a large and distinctive growth known as a casque. The function of this strange structure is debated, though it may provide support for the long beak, help in attracting a mate, or serve to amplify the bird's raucous call.
This White Horn bird skull has chosen a throne to call home on a very unique ONE OF A KIND mineral from Brazil thats made of a matrix of Green Tourmaline and Quartz.
Considered first and foremost a gemstone, Tourmaline has many industrial, scientific and technological uses. One of the attributes of Tourmaline is that it can induce electrical charges by applying pressure against the vertical axis. This special quality is known as piezoelectricity and other minerals such as quartz also have this attribute. Tourmaline can also have the attribute of *pyroelectricity*, this is similar to a battery, where one end of the mineral has a negative charge and the opposite end has a positive charge. (soooO science geekin cool!!!!)
No Tourmaline piece is ever exactly alike. In this exceptionally large and OOAK mineral matrix, there are several types of quartz as well.
The tourmaline grows out from every part of this magnificent mineral. Most of the tourmaline is green but there are small pockets of blue & black as well.
This amazing stone is filled with earths natural colors and displays the movements of the sand it once sat on and the waves of air pushing the sand that helped create the weaving crystals on its bottom.
